Heavyweight Concrete

Heavyweight concrete is produced using heavy aggregates and is typically used for radiation shielding, counterweighting, and offshore ballast for pipelines. It can reach densities as high as 400 lbs/ft while maintaining physical properties similar to normal-weight concrete. Because of its extra weight, heavyweight concrete transported in ready-mix trucks is usually carried in loads of 4 to 5 yards at a time.
